According to theItalian specialistGiorgioPiola, the new carwill featuretheScuderiarevolutionariesaileronslocatedoutside the entranceof the radiatorsthat will protectthe driverin a crashand havea function"clearlyaerodynamic."
The newFerrari car,to be presented atMaranello onFeb. 3, represents a neworientation tothe Ferraris ofthe pastyears, and althougheveryone agrees thatit is importantto befast enough, PresidentLuca diMontezemoloandrecent developmentis "ugly."
One of the Piola indiscretions published Monday in La Gazzetta dello Sport, is that the suspension of the new creature born in Maranello will be of type "pull-rod", the first Ferrari in 11 years, and that Red Bull has been using since 2009. This system works well with a lower nose and down also allows the center of gravity of the car, while enabling a design on the lower back, in order to compensate the performance loss due to the prohibition of the diffusers blown.
Also, pilots have a more reclined position in the new Ferrari. The side pods are very close and protective structures to the pilot in a crash, are like two wings located in front of the main deck of the pontoons, just above the inlet of the radiators.Besides the safety aspect, will clearly have an aerodynamic function.
In this sense, all the teams working on innovative ideas with the pontoons in order to obtain the best possible aerodynamic flow to the rear, and thus minimize the loss of grip provided with the rules of this year, since these elements provide a little more freedom to designers.
According Piola, front and rear spoilers to mount the new car in his presentation will be old specifications, not those of 2012 (normal if the team does not want to give clues to their opponents).
The exhaust pipes are placed in the lower part of the range allowed by the new rules, and will blow the lower profile rear spoiler. However, it seems that there is a development plan to adjust its orientation to what McLaren and Red Bull is supposed to have done so, or whatever it is, above exhaust place to blow into the upper profile.
The car, created under the direction of Pat Fry, is the result of the work of Nikolas Tombazis, who has enjoyed the direct collaboration of the legendary Ferrari designer Rory Byrne, who apparently was responsible for the revolutionary form protective structures spoiler in front of the side-pods.
